LIQUID LIGHT

Short Hills Provincial Park is located on the southern extremity of St. Catharines.  This is an excellent place to hike, go horseback riding, mountain biking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing.  Two of my favourite destinations in the park are Terrace Creek Falls and Swayze Falls.  There are trails leading to them or you can (adventurous route) hike upstream or downstream to reach these waterfalls.

During mid-summer, the shallow water levels on top of the falls will reveal the most amazing reflections and patterns of light, as the water flows down and around the shape of the limestone, just before falling over the edge.  As the sunlight hits the running water, you can witness the light as it moves with the flow of the water.  These abstract patterns of liquid light never remain the same for longer than a second.  If you look close enough and long enough, you might see things that might surprise you!
